We’re drawing to a close here, folks! RUPTURE will be available on Christmas Eve – which is a very important part of the Jólabókaflóðið tradition! The prizes are AMAZING! LOOK!
Just in case you’ve missed it, here’s the background to this fabulous bit of Icelandic folklore! Countdown to publication: Rupture DAY ONE.
The next Santa is Door Sniffer (Gáttaþefur in Icelandic)! He arrives on 22nd December and leaves on the 4th of January. So hmmm … what’s he sniffing for? He’s a thief, of course! Looking for something delicious to eat, and that could be children … He’s got a very fine sense of smell, and although you might be worried for your children, his main target is laufabrauð, the VERY yummy flatbreads that Icelanders favour at Christmas! I’ve had them myself – something like a denser, more delicious poppadum! You’ll recognised Door Sniffer the moment you see him. He has a very, very big nose!
Door Sniffer’s nose stood him in good stead
he used it to find all kinds of things.
While still up in the mountains he could smell
the quickest way to find some food.
And out of the drifting snow he would appear,
sticking his nose into every door ajar.
AND to celebrate the eleventh day of the RUPTURE countdown, we’ll be giving away some books!! A BIG BUNDLE, in fact! Win copies of Michael Stanley’s Deadly Harvest and A Death in the Family – part of the brilliant Detective Kubu series set in Botswana (don’t worry! they stand alone), AND you’ll also win Matt Johnston’s AMAZING, gritty and emotive debut thriller Wicked Game, AND, if that’s not enough, we will send you a copy of the breathlessly intelligent, topical and page-turning Jihadi: A Love Story by Yusuf Toropov. Note that these are not signed, but we can ask the lovely authors to send you a book plate to complete your collection!!
Either share on Facebook or retweet on Twitter to be in with a chance of winning! We’ll announce the winner of the previous day’s draw when we post details of the next Santa!
