Ewald Arenz

Ewald Arenz was born in Nuremberg in 1965, studied English and American literature and history, and now works as a teacher at a grammar school. His novels and plays have received numerous awards. Tasting Sunlight was shortlisted for the German Independent Booksellers’ Favourite Novel of 2019, and was on the Spiegel bestseller list for more than three years, becoming a word-of-mouth sensation. Tasting Sunlight was published in English by Orenda Books and was selected for the BBC World Service World Book Club. One Grand Summer, also published by Orenda Books in English, won the German Independent Booksellers’ Prize 2021 and was also a number one bestseller in Germany, sitting on the Spiegel bestseller list for over two years. Over 1.4 million copies of Ewald’s books have been sold in German alone.

He lives with his family near Fürth.
