Description
When a teenager is found murdered on the Yorkshire moors, a photograph of a young woman found at the scene draws Detective Superintendent Jack Dylan and DI Charley Mann into a disturbing investigation. As people close to a young woman are targeted, the detectives realise someone is watching her … and this is just the beginning… The explosive second instalment in the gritty, real-life-inspired series from Happy Valley advisers R.C. Bridgestock.
On the Yorkshire moors, nineteen-year-old Liam Bradley is found murdered beside a stolen car. At the scene is a photograph of Mo Davis, a young woman who barely knew him and has no idea why her picture is there. Then Mo’s best friend Shelley is murdered.
DI Charley Mann is investigating Liam’s murder when Detective Superintendent Jack Dylan discovers disturbing similarities at Shelley’s crime scene. As the two enquiries come together, they begin to realise that the victims aren’t the real focus of the killer’s attention.
Mo is.
When Mo’s mother is attacked, Mo is placed under police protection, but even then she’s not safe. Because the man who has spent eighteen months imagining a relationship Mo never knew existed finally has her where he wants her.
And in his mind, she was always meant to be his.
With no threatening messages to trace and no digital footprint to follow, Dylan and Mann find themselves working an investigation where the usual lines of enquiry are leading nowhere. As the attacks close in on Mo, the detectives must look beyond the victims to find a motive – and stop a silent predator before his imagined relationship becomes a terrible reality.
